Competitive Intel PRO

What it does

Competitive Intel analyzes how your competitors behave and responds with the best counter-strategy. It detects patterns like penny-undercutting and breaks the cycle automatically.

When to use it

  • Competitors keep undercutting you in a race to the bottom
  • You're stuck in a penny-undercut spiral
  • You want smarter responses than just “always go lower”

When NOT to use it

  • You have very few competitors (simpler strategies work fine)
  • You want predictable pricing (this strategy is reactive)

How it works

Repricefy tracks each competitor's pricing behavior over time and classifies them:

Competitor types

STATIC — This competitor never changes their price.
Strategy: undercut by $0.01. They won't follow.

PENNY_UNDERCUT — This competitor always undercuts by a penny. Every time you drop, they drop.
Strategy: if we hit floor, reset price to ceiling to break the cycle. The competitor follows down to their floor, then we undercut their floor.

AGGRESSIVE — This competitor makes big price drops (5%+ at a time).
Strategy: don't chase them. Hold your price. They'll likely raise back up.

MIXED — Unpredictable competitor. Sometimes drops, sometimes raises.
Strategy: drop to win Buy Box when possible, raise when we have it.

The penny-undercut spiral breaker

This is unique to Repricefy. When two sellers keep undercutting each other by $0.01:

  1. Both prices spiral down toward their floors
  2. Most repricers get stuck at floor forever
  3. Repricefy detects this pattern and resets to ceiling
  4. The competitor follows down again, but hits THEIR floor
  5. Now you undercut their floor by $0.01 and hold

This breaks the cycle and often results in a higher stable price than the spiral would have reached.

Amazon as a competitor

When Amazon itself is selling on your listing:

  • AVOID (default): Don't try to compete with Amazon on price — they usually win
  • MATCH: Match Amazon's price exactly
  • IGNORE: Treat Amazon like any other competitor

Example

You and Seller B keep undercutting each other on a Ninja Foodi:

  • Your floor: $85.00
  • Seller B's floor: $82.00 (unknown to you)

Without Competitive Intel:

You: $89.99 → $89.98 → $89.97 → ... → $85.00 (stuck at floor forever)

With Competitive Intel:

  1. Detects penny-undercut pattern after 5 cycles
  2. Resets your price to $99.99 (ceiling)
  3. Seller B follows down to $82.00 (their floor)
  4. You undercut: $81.99... wait, that's below YOUR floor
  5. You price at $85.00 (your floor)
  6. Stable outcome: $85.00 vs $82.00 — Seller B has Buy Box at lower margin
