Buy Box Targeting PRO
This is the recommended strategy for most serious sellers.
What it does
Buy Box Targeting is a two-state machine: it drops aggressively to win the Buy Box, then slowly raises your price to maximize profit while keeping it.
When to use it
- You want the best balance of Buy Box wins AND profit
- You're a serious seller managing 50+ products
- You want intelligent repricing that adapts to market changes
How it works: The two states
State 1: DROP mode (when you DON'T have the Buy Box)
When you lose the Buy Box, the repricer acts fast:
- Drops your price by $1.00 below the current Buy Box price (default)
- This aggressive drop is designed to win the Buy Box back quickly
- Runs every cycle (every 5 minutes) until you win
State 2: RAISE mode (when you HAVE the Buy Box)
Once you win the Buy Box, the repricer switches to RAISE:
- Raises your price by $0.50 per cycle (default)
- Keeps raising as long as you still have the Buy Box
- When you lose the Buy Box → switches back to DROP mode
- This finds the maximum price where you can still hold the Buy Box
The cycle
lose BB → DROP fast → win BB → RAISE slowly → lose BB again → repeat
Over time, this finds the optimal price: the highest amount buyers will pay while you still hold the Buy Box.
Example with real numbers
You're selling a Stanley Quencher Tumbler:
- Your floor: $32.00
- Your ceiling: $45.00
- Current Buy Box: $38.00 (held by a competitor)
Cycle 1 (you don't have BB):
- DROP mode: $38.00 - $1.00 = $37.00
- You win the Buy Box!
Cycle 2 (you have BB):
- RAISE mode: $37.00 + $0.50 = $37.50
- Still have BB ✓
Cycle 3 (you have BB):
- RAISE: $37.50 + $0.50 = $38.00
- Still have BB ✓
Cycle 4 (you have BB):
- RAISE: $38.00 + $0.50 = $38.50
- Lost the Buy Box! A competitor matched you.
Cycle 5 (lost BB):
- DROP: $38.50 - $1.00 = $37.50
- Won BB back!
The strategy settles around $37.50–$38.00 — the optimal price point.
Settings
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Aggressive drop | $1.00 | How much to drop below Buy Box when in DROP mode |
| Max raise per cycle | $0.50 | How much to raise each cycle in RAISE mode |
| Gradual raise % | 1% | Alternative: raise by percentage instead of fixed amount |
This strategy is smart about floor prices. If the DROP would take you below your floor, it stops at the floor. If your floor is already above the Buy Box price, the strategy waits rather than selling at a loss.
vs Beat Buy Box (Basic)
Beat Buy Box always undercuts by a fixed amount. Buy Box Targeting is smarter — it also RAISES prices to find your maximum profit point. Over time, BBT earns significantly more per unit.
