Beat Lowest
What it does
Beat Lowest sets your price just below the cheapest competitor. If someone is selling at $25.00 and your undercut is $0.01, your price becomes $24.99.
When to use it
- You're new to repricing and want a simple strategy that works
- The product has many competitors and price is the main buying factor
- You want to be the cheapest seller on the listing
- You're selling commodity products where lowest price wins
When NOT to use it
- You don't want to start a price war (use Match Lowest instead)
- You care more about profit than being cheapest (use Profit Maximizer)
- You want to target the Buy Box specifically (use Beat Buy Box)
How it works (step by step)
- The repricer checks your competitors' prices every 5 minutes
- It finds the lowest price among all active competitors
- It subtracts your undercut amount (default: $0.01)
- That becomes your target price
- Floor check: is this price above your floor? (your minimum margin)
- YES → price is valid
- NO → uses your floor price instead (protects your margin)
- Ceiling check: is this price below your ceiling?
- YES → price is valid
- NO → uses your ceiling price
- Safety check: is the price change more than 30%?
- YES → blocks the change (safety protection)
- NO → sends the new price to Amazon
Example with real numbers
You're selling a KitchenAid Stand Mixer Attachment:
- Your cost: $19.99 (from Home Depot)
- Your floor price: $28.50 (15% minimum margin after fees)
- Your ceiling price: $42.00
- Current Amazon price: $35.00
- Lowest competitor: $32.00
- Your undercut: $0.01
The repricer calculates:
- Target: $32.00 - $0.01 = $31.99
- Floor check: $31.99 > $28.50 ✓
- Ceiling check: $31.99 < $42.00 ✓
- Change: 8.6% < 30% ✓
- Result: Price updated to $31.99
What happens when...
...there are no competitors?
Your price goes to your ceiling (maximum price). You're the only seller — charge the maximum.
...the lowest competitor is below your floor?
Your price stays at your floor. You won't match them. Your margin is protected.
...the price change is too large?
The 30% safety cap blocks it. Your price stays the same until the next cycle.
Settings
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Undercut amount | $0.01 | How much below the competitor to price |
| When no competition | Use max price | What to do when you're the only seller |
Your floor price is your safety net. No matter how aggressive Beat Lowest is, it will NEVER price below your floor. Set your floor based on your minimum acceptable profit margin.
